The Scandal of the Cross

March 12, 2023

March 12, 2023 • Rev. Amanda Meade • Matthew 5:21–37

This week we left Nicodemus in the dark to meet the Samaritan woman in broad daylight and that's not the only scandalous thing we discovered in her conversation with Jesus. Jesus revealed that he died not just for people like Nicodemus who society revers but also for Samaritans, women and people with complicated histories that are shamed or reviled or rejected. The scandal of the cross is not who is left out, but who Jesus includes! Even us!
