Knowing God: Blessed Fellowship

June 6, 2021 • Mark Kemp

Last week we focused on the challenging truth of the Trinity (one God in three persons). This week we will focus on the exciting truth that the whole Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) seeks us and enables us to experience blessed fellowship with the the living God. Thankfully we do not have to fully understand the Trinity to enjoy the rich salvation and relationship which the triune God desires to have with us!

Knowing God: Trinity

The truth of God as Trinity is both difficult and rich. We'll look at how this truth about God is revealed in Scripture and how it affects our lives as His people.

Knowing God: Good Plans

May 23, 2021 • Mark Kemp

God has good plans for His people and He wants us to seek Him and trust Him to bring His plans to fulfillment. We cannot know or live out God's plans unless we know Him. While the most cherished part of this passage is "I know the plans I have for you" the most important part is "You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart."

Knowing God: Patient

May 16, 2021 • Mark Kemp

God is "slow to anger and abounding in faithful love." His love toward us often expresses itself in patiently bearing with our sin and kindly leading us toward repentance. If God were not patient and dealt with us immediately as our sins deserved then what hope would there be for us? We celebrate His patience but let us never take it for granted. Instead, let His patience motivate us to seek and serve Him faithfully.

Knowing God: Mercy and Grace

May 9, 2021 • Mark Kemp

God's mercy and grace are ways He expresses His love toward us. Mercy has been described as not getting what we do deserve and grace as getting what we do not deserve. In both mercy and grace, God pours out His love on the undeserving and crowns us with His kindness.

In this beautiful prayer of the apostle for believers, among other things, he prays for open spiritual eyes to know the power of God. This power is "immeasurable" and by it God accomplishes His perfect will and blesses those who believe.

Knowing God: Holiness

April 11, 2021 • Dr. Mark Kemp

Holiness is a central characteristic of God. We cannot truly know and relate to God unless we know and approach Him as the One who is "holy, holy, holy." We'll seek to understand what it means that God is holy (it means more than we commonly think) and how that affects our relationship with Him.

In a hymn of praise, the apostle Paul celebrated the depth and riches of God's wisdom and knowledge. As we seek to know God more fully, we will focus on these two attributes. As we gaze on the beauty of His knowledge and wisdom it inspires praise for His perfection and trust in His plans.

To truly know God we must "meet Him" in the Bible, His inspired word to us. This Scripture answers some important questions for us like: Where did the Bible come from? How do we know it's reliable? What do we do with the Bible?

God Revealed

January 31, 2021 • Dr. Mark Kemp

The message this week is "God Revealed" from Matthew 11:25-30. God is too high for us to search Him out and uncover the secrets of His being. But the good news is that while we are unable to scale the heights to discover Him, He willingly makes Himself known to the humble through Jesus Christ. I pray that over the coming weeks God will increase our hunger to know Him and open our eyes to see His glory more fully.
