Knowing God: Trinity

Matthew 28:16-20

The truth of God as Trinity is both difficult and rich. It is difficult for us to comprehend the limitless being of God but the fuller our understanding of Him becomes the richer our relationship with Him will grow. We'll look at how this truth about God is revealed in Scripture and how it affects our lives as His people.

This week we will focus on the exciting truth that the whole Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) seeks us and enables us to experience blessed fellowship with the the living God. Thankfully we do not have to fully understand the Trinity to enjoy the rich salvation and relationship which the triune God desires to have with us!

God has good plans for His people and He wants us to seek Him and trust Him to bring His plans to fulfillment. We cannot know or live out God's plans unless we know Him. While the most cherished part of this passage is "I know the plans I have for you" the most important part is "You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all of your heart."

Knowing God: Patient

God is "slow to anger and abounding in faithful love." His love toward us often expresses itself in patiently bearing with our sin and kindly leading us toward repentance. If God were not patient and dealt with us immediately as our sins deserved then what hope would there be for us? We celebrate His patience but let us never take it for granted. Instead, let His patience motivate us to seek and serve Him faithfully.
