God's grace and compassion causes Jonah to respond obediently, the Ninevites to repent dramatically, and for God to relent mercifully.
God is God and Jonah (and, therefore, us) is not.
"God will never put more on me that I can handle" is a lie. God is always at work teaching us to be dependent on Him. Returning to Him is our only hope.
