There was a man in Lystra who had been born crippled. As Paul proclaimed the gospel, he saw the man's faith and told him to stand up, and he did! When the people of Lystra found out what had happened, they thought Zeus and Hermes—two Greek gods—had visited them in the persons of Barnabas and Paul. With great difficulty, they convinced the people they were not. Unbelieving Jews came from Antioch of Pisidia and Iconium, stirred up the people against Paul, and he was stoned and left for dead. He revived and he and Barnabas soon left for Derbe.
