A Change of Perspective

August 27, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • John 4:1–26

A stranger approaches…a car breaks down…a phone call is received…it is a telemarketer… The things that happen in our lives every day can challenge us and our mission to glorify God on this earth. Today we look at a story to see how Jesus saw the stranger, the unfortunate circumstance, and the person that most wouldn’t want to talk to. He sees beyond the inconveniences of life to see what God the Father is doing. Will you do the same?

The Good Life

What are you looking for in life? What makes you really content or happy? Do you have peace? A “Good” life according to Scripture is a life of righteousness…full of God’s love, grace, and salvation. Have you embraced that life which was given to you in faith? Believing in Jesus takes us from being able to enjoy the beauty around us to being able to enjoy the Creator of Beauty. Don’t settle. Embrace Jesus and live His Good Life!

August 13, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • James 5:19–20

Today we finish the book of James with an incredible amazing challenge to those inside the church family! The question is this...Are you really part of the family, or are you just playing the game? As we talk about sharing the gospel to our community, let’s not miss the bigger point of the Book – let's make sure we are ALL ready for the return of Jesus! Do we need to evangelize the church???

Use Your Words Wisely - Part 2

July 30, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • James 5:12–18

Last week we read the call to pray in James 5. This week the Word of God continues by telling us how to pray and gives us the “formula” for effective prayers. No matter who you are, if you are a Christian, you are called to patiently wait upon the Lord’s Return. We may do that in prayer. Let’s prayerfully and faithfully look forward to the Second Coming of Christ!

Use Your Words Wisely

July 23, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • James 5:12–18

Jesus was clear concerning how we should speak and how we should pray. As we study the final chapter of James (for the next three weeks) we are reminded of those amazing truths. Our words should reflect our faith. Our faith should reflect our Lord. Our Lord can do anything! Nothing is impossible with God! Let’s learn how to speak and pray wisely – for we represent the Immeasurable God of the Bible!

Patience is a Virtue

July 16, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • James 5:7–11

Is Patience a Virtue? Well, I think we all know that it is! Perhaps I should ask if patience is something that we want? We all know someone that has said to never pray for patience, for the Lord will give us opportunities to get it! Today we learn that there are many kinds of patience, and we also learn that they aren’t optional for the believer! Living out Christianity can be difficult – but fear not – God will equip and bless those who patiently follow Him!

Didn't You Hear My Brother?!!!

July 9, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • James 5:1–6

James starts off Chapter 5 with a passage that sounds like he is simply “amening” his half-brother, Jesus! Now, considering who Jesus is, that is extremely appropriate. Jesus is known as the God of grace, love, patience, and mercy. He is! But the warnings that Jesus gave are as truthful as His love. James reminds those who have rejected God’s plan for their lives that their comfort is short-lived. We all need to listen to Jesus!

Jesus, Take the Wheel

July 2, 2023

Not that I am a Carrie Underwood fan, but “Jesus, Take the Wheel” isn’t such a bad idea! In fact, for the believer who has made Jesus their Lord, don’t you think it just makes sense to let Jesus be in charge of all our dealings? This week we will see that the Word of God reminds us that Jesus must be considered in everything – to do otherwise would be to act arrogantly and boastfully. Let’s let Jesus Take the Wheel of our lives!
