Turning the Tables

October 29, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • Romans 2:1–11

If I have ever wanted to use an emoji in a sermon title, this one was it! (Perhaps denoting Shock and Awe!) To have the tables turned on you means to have the situation flipped. It means to go from being on the offense to being on the defense and it may include a very uncomfortable feeling. No one likes to have the tables turned on them especially when the point might be a good one. As we just finished one of the most direct sermons I have ever preached, Paul turns the table on his “churchy” friends. Be careful who you point at…the tables might just be flipped! 😲

Trading the Amazing - Part 2

October 22, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • Romans 1:24–32

Last week we saw the unfortunate consequences of exchanging God for idols. This week the teaching continues with the destruction the rejection of God brings to those involved and those around them. Being a good neighbor isn’t just about being nice. Being a good neighbor is about wishing God’s best for those around you. God’s best is God Himself. Let’s reject rejection and embrace the Lord!

Trading the Amazing - Part 1

October 15, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • Romans 1:24–32

Have you ever made a good trade on the playground? A snicker’s candy bar for an apple? A piece of cake for a carrot? It feels great to “trade up” from what you have. It feels good to make good business deals. The flip side of that is what many of us do…we purchased a big-ticket item and found it cheaper the next week. We purchased a car that is a lemon. But the ultimate bad deal is when we trade The Amazing for the ordinary. The consequences are dire and come from the very things we choose. Let’s cling to Jesus today! There is no way to “trade up” from Him!

May I Come Too?

October 1, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • Romans 1:8–17

What does it look like when a church body is “doing it right”? The obvious answer is that God is glorified! Is there more to it? I would pray that we would want to corporately be that church, individually join that church, and universally glorify God as that church! Even to this day, if someone is doing something awesome – there is a part of me that always wants to join in! Let’s be a church where God’s presence is evident so that we will want to invest in it and others will want to “come along too” in this the journey of faith!

The Caller and the Called

September 24, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • Romans 1:1–7

Today we start a new book study in the crown jewel of Paul’s theological writings: The Book of Romans. This amazing letter to the church of Rome establishes a clear view of salvation and God’s desire for our sanctification. Along those lines, and as we will see in this sermon, God is the source of our ability to be saved and sanctified. The last chapter of the book uses the word “EKKLESIA” six times to describe who we are – the church! We are called out of sin to be His! His Church! It all starts with surrender. Are you His? Are you ready for His awesome work in your life?

Hearing, Understanding, and Following Jesus

September 3, 2023 • Ed Eddingfield • Acts 21:1–16

Hearing from God is important! Understanding what you hear and obeying it are equally so! Today we look at Acts 21 where we can see that God was speaking and people were understanding, confused, obedient, dramatic, and almost fatalistic! What might God tell you today? Will you be ready to hear, understand, and follow? We can be in Him! Let’s do it!
