No Excuses Just a Solution

August 28, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 2:1–2

Over the last 3 weeks we have discussed a lot of things about owning up to our sin and making sure that we follow the Lord sincerely. Today we continue the thought in a much different and balancing way. If the person who denies their sin is in BIG trouble, then do we continue to sin so that grace may abound? (Romans 6:1). Today we will see that God does have a plan for us that doesn’t include sin or denial. He has a Solution!

True Children of the Light

August 21, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 1:5–10

What does it mean to be a child of God? What does it look like? Is there a way to know for sure? John gives us a great introduction to the holiness of God and the attributes of His followers in our text today. As we look at the “God of Light” today, let me encourage you to ask yourselves, “Am I like Him?”. You can be!

The Incarnate Word of Life

August 14, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 1:1–4

Today we start a new Bible Book series. We start 1st John! Think of it as the Gospel of John condensed into 5 chapters of theological awesomeness! The letter was written during a time of confusion and heresy. Today we read it to understand who Jesus is and how we may have true unity in our Lord! He is our Lord, Our Life, Our Message, and even Our Hope!

Wholly Holy

July 24, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 Thessalonians 5:23–28

For the last 7 months, we have been studying the Letter to the Church at Thessalonica. During that time, there has been a very clear call to remember that Jesus is coming, and we must be ready. We must stand firm in our faith, be sanctified by our Lord, and let that holiness impact every aspect of our lives. Today we see the conclusion to the letter as it all comes together as a singular challenge to be “Wholly Holy”.

Following the Spirit Part 2

July 17, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 Thessalonians 5:19–22

Today we continue in our text which concerned following the Spirit instead of hindering His work in our lives and the lives of others. As we do that, we will see the need to hold on to the Person and teaching of God. As we will see today, the good work and Word of God is good for everyone – the sinner and the saint. Let’s follow the Spirit by knowing Him and God’s Word.

Following the Spirit

July 10, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 Thessalonians 5:19–22

Recently we spoke of “Following the Leader”, and we correctly defined Him as the Lord our God. Today we remember that God is Triune in Nature, and that He is also “The Holy Spirit.” The Spirit of God works mightily in all aspects of our salvation and sanctification. I pray that today we will follow Him as He desires to bring about the Lord’s best in our lives for the Glory of our King. May we follow our Leader…

Body Building - Channeling Power

July 3, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

The commands to Build and Encourage one another (1 Thess 5:11) are a serious set of commands and goals for God’s church. For two weeks, we have discussed how to work together to make that happen. Today, we change the focus. We are still talking about fulfilling God’s will – but now we will see where all the strength comes from. It shouldn’t shock us…Every good and perfect gift is from above. Let’s draw close to God; for He is the answer that our church, our families, and our neighbors need!
