A Black and White Picture

November 6, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 3:7–10

In 1907 the very first commercially available color camera came to market in France. In 1908 the first color movie was produced in England. Even still, it wasn’t until the 1970’s that color televisions outsold black and white TV’s. Until that point, we watched TV in grayscale, like a modern copy machine that transforms color into shades of gray. Our world is in color. Supposedly our dreams are in black and white (grayscale). How about our Christianity? How about our God? There are some things that are a little “gray” and give us an opportunity to grow – but the description of the gospel and the believer are not. Are you living the life of a believer?

It All Makes Sense

December 25, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • Luke 2:1–7

Christmas is a very special time of year for me. Yes, I used to get piles of presents. I used to always get the day off. I do get to spend time with my family. But Christmas is so much more than that to me now. Christmas is about God fulfilling promises heading to Easter. It is a guarantee in my heart that He will fulfill the rest of His promises including the promise to come back for His people. God is faithful – Christmas is an excellent example of why that is such a big deal. Let’s celebrate Jesus as it all comes together in Him.

A Story to Change Everything

December 18, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • Luke 2:1–20

Over the last year we have seen many things that seem to have changed the world forever. Some of them very good, some not so good. But even as serious as the happenings around us are (or seem to be), it is likely that they will change again. The world does change; in fact, we can count on change. But some changes are permanent – and that includes the difference Jesus made when He came to earth. Praise the Lord for this change – the world will never be the same again! How about you? Has Jesus changed your world?

Live Like Jesus LIVES

December 11, 2022 • Ed Eddingfield • 1 John 4:16–21

We may be prone to ask questions of ourselves like, “What would Jesus do?” We may even ask ourselves to live like He did or to walk as He walked. Our text gives us another challenge. Be as HE IS! Jesus is alive! We too can live NOW! Don’t wait for Heaven; let’s experience eternal life like Jesus – right now!
