Jesus was baptized and began teaching in the synagogues. In the text he is teaching in Nazareth. He lays out his mission.
Jesus' message is not always popular. It threatens our power, place, privilege, popularity and position.
Jesus calls us to love our enemies- those people who are hard to love, who treat us unkind or unfairly. Jesus says love them anyway.
The Mission is to bring healing to those who are broken.
Jesus invited the first followers to join the mission, to join him in his desire to bring The Kingdom of God on Earth as it is in Heaven.
