In Genesis 1:1, the Bible tells us that God created the heavens and the earth. God is named here as Elohim, one of the 900+ names for God in the Bible. Elohim means the one and only infinite, all-powerful. God declared His name to make it clear that He’s the one and only, eternal, and triune Creator. As the crowning achievement in His creation, we are fearfully and wonderfully made in His image for a purpose so that we might have a relationship with Him.
