He wants us to read it, understand it, and bury it deep in our hearts. Its Word can provide great comfort to those around us. Drawing insights from 2 Peter 2:1-3, we'll discover that memorizing God's Word is foundational to living an abiding life.

Disciple Making

Following Jesus is a call to more than acknowledging his work on the cross and living as you want, thinking you’re okay with God. It’s a call to be His apprentice—to walk in His footsteps, to know Him, to be like Him, and to do as He did. Jesus called us to be disciples who make disciples. We should take responsibility for coming alongside others to introduce them to Jesus and walk with them, spurring them into spiritual maturity.

Fast Decisions

We know a lot about feasting, but fasting - not so much. If we’re all being honest, we’d all rather feast than fast; after all, there’s some pretty yummy food in our world. The Bible has 77 unique references to fasting. Fasting isn’t a casual idea to miss a meal because you are not hungry. Fasting is taking the time to lay aside what is seen and comfortable to us so we can humbly pursue and embrace God, who wants to bring us true comfort and satisfaction.

Hands, Feet, and Voice

Great artists are able to take a blank white canvas and turn it into a work of art using a brush, making strokes, dabs and smudges of paint. In Ephesians 2:1-10, Paul shares with us how Jesus has taken poor smudges like us – with a dab of grace here, and a touch of mercy there – creating incredible works of art out of our nothingness. God’s grace is not just for our salvation but also for our service – that is, we’re saved by grace to serve by grace so that by the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus we can become His hands, feet, and voice to the world around us.
