Can't Get There from Here
Acts 2:46-47 • January 29, 2017 • Gary Brandenburg
Many of the details in the book of Joshua are specific to a particular people at a particular place at a particular time. We are not the physical descendants of Abraham. But we are His spiritual descendants. Abraham believed God and it was reckoned unto him as righteousness. That's the only way to please God. Like Abraham, we too are saved by grace through faith. But our salvation is just the beginning of a rich spiritual heritage.

What if the world could see a company of repurposed agents of the Kingdom, doing what they love to do and experiencing great joy as they live, work, and play together as God's representatives where they are already doing life. Jesus envisioned a church that would be contagiously attractive to others and influential for the Kingdom. He envisioned men and women who were fishermen and carpenters and tax collectors who would be repurposed and see their occupations as a platform for spreading the Good News. He envisioned a church where His followers discover and pursue their unique calling and lead others on a similar journey.

We are, "calling each other to live out our God-given purpose in Christ every day." I don’t know about you but when I hear that mission, I get fired up. It’s personal, it’s intentional, and it’s active. I get excited about being a part of a church where everyone is living on purpose and living with joy. But how do we do that? What is it going to take for us to live out that mission? The answer is right here in this room. The answer is all of you. The God who gives us the gift of salvation also gave us the gift of each other to be partners in pursuing our purpose.
The Year of Living Purposefully
Eph. 2:4-6 • January 8, 2017 • Gary Brandenburg
There is no greater satisfaction in life than knowing I am being used by God for a noble purpose. That is what God has in mind for His church. Jesus did not conceive of a religious social institution that offers programs for God's people. God's people -are- God's program.
