Courage comes when we are confident in our calling. Joshua knew what to do. Every detail of his life had prepared him for this assignment. He had been mentored by Moses. Those who confidently live out their God-given purpose impart courage to those around them.

At the end of Joshua's speech, the people agreed to serve the Lord. He set up a large rock and said, "This rock has heard you. If you do not do these things, then this stone will cry out in judgment against you." Now you know why Jesus (Joshua in Hebrew) says, "If these people don't praise me, the rocks will cry out." So the choice is yours today. Choose you -this day- whom -you- will serve.

Over the last few months, as we’ve started talking about things like our God-given purpose, there might be a check in your spirit, something that keeps you from really believing that it’s knowable and attainable, or that God really cares and actually has the power to do anything about it anyway. That’s why our view of God is so important. It impacts the way we live, the expectations we have, the prayers we pray, and the passion with which we pursue our calling.
