This Sunday, JC speaks on spiritually formed community. He said that we live in the tension of two realities: first, we are made for community; second, when it comes to community, we often idolize our preferences as well as people’s perceptions of us. In our walks with Jesus, we also idolize comfort instead of focusing on Christ. To be able to focus on Christ, we must be in community and for a community to be alive, the group must pursue freedom in Christ and confession of sin.
The Way of Practice
September 18, 2022 • RD McClenagan • Luke 6:46–49
This Sunday, RD speaks on the importance of spiritual practices. Spiritual formation is a counter practice to the formation of the world. Our practices create the posture of our hearts. God has more for us, but we must want more for ourselves and hunger and thirst for His righteousness.
Truth
September 11, 2022 • RD McClenagan • Genesis 3, Galatians 4:19, John 8:31–33
This Sunday, RD speaks on the importance of truth and how we are either being formed by the culture or by the truth of Christ. The trellis that formation is built on consists of truth, practices, and community with the Holy Spirit empowering each of these. The essential truth is Christ revealed to us in His word. It is not just what we know about the truth, but where the truth leads us - toward freedom. Truth sets us free, and the lies of the enemy make us live in captivity and shame.
A New Season, by His Grace, for His Glory
September 4, 2022 • Rick Dunn • Acts 11:19–26
This Sunday, Rick looks at where we have been and ahead to where we are going in our vision to be a disciple-making movement. As we grow and walk by the Spirit, we wobble. We need to strengthen our core, which takes pushing beyond our current capacity. But, we have a firm foundation in Christ even when we wobble. As we look towards the future as a spiritual community, we must focus on two things: the character of who God is and the people we are called to be through the character of God. We are called to be a people of unity and humility.
