1 CORINTHIANS - A Beautiful Mess

The Church in Corinth was a beautiful mess; beautiful because they had been forgiven much; mess - because they weren't livin' like they were forgiven. We will learn much from this letter to this ancient Church, as we are challenged to be conformed into the image of Jesus.

A Church that is UNIFIED is a beautiful, powerful sight to behold. When God’s people work together for God’s purpose, lives are transformed and God is pleased.

4: Discipled by the Father

Good fathers can’t sit back and allow the children they love to disobey without confronting what is false and correcting with truth. Today we are reminded of a wonderful, inescapable reality - God’s children will be disciplined by the Father.

5: Ditching Disobedience

1 Corinthians 5 addresses 2 massive issues that are NOT acceptable for people called “God’s temple” - sexual impurity and spiritual pride. Christians can’t live for the sin that Jesus died to pay for anymore.

6: NOT Who We USED to Be

Those who follow Jesus are genuinely forgiven & empowered to walk in purity, because we’re not who we used to be. It’s not that Christians can never sin again, but we can’t live in sin, if we belong to Him. Will this powerful passage confront you or comfort you?

7: 1 CORINTHIANS SEX

SEX - a word that attracts attention; a word that’s threaded throughout our culture; a topic that people are quick to turn their ears to, while the church is slow to speak about. SEX is God’s invention and we NEED to hear what God says on the subject.

8: DEVOTED or DISTRACTED

Christians are to be DEVOTED to the Lord. But it seems that many of us are DISTRACTED. Today we are reminded that no-one and no-thing should distract us from the Lord Jesus having 1st place in our lives - including our spouse.

9: Stumbling Blocks

Have the actions of another Christian been a stumbling block that somehow detoured your walk with the Lord? Have YOU ever been the cause of another’s stumbling? Today we are reminded how Christians should direct others to follow Jesus rather than detour them away from Him.

10: Running for the Prize

Many people have disciplined body & mind to attain earthly goals, but at the end of life, very few of those accomplishments will matter. But…what if we put that kind of effort in knowing Jesus and making Him known to others? Followers of Jesus are to run, ever aware of the PRIZE at the end of the race.

11: No Idols

Americans might not bow down to statues, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have idols - something or someone (besides God) we seek for security. Today we are reminded that there is no room for idols for followers of Jesus.

12: It's All About Relationships

The Christian life is all about relationships - how we love God and how we love people - our family, our faith family, and our non-Christian friends & acquaintances. Today we are reminded how we are to interact with these precious people because…it’s all about relationships.

13: Significance of the Lords Supper

The Church is supposed to be a gathering for followers of Jesus from all walks of life, who appreciate & participate in Christian community. Today we discover how the “The Lord’s Supper” reminds us to be one Body serving One King.

14: Many Instruments. One Song.

The Church of Jesus is supposed to be like a spiritual symphony, MANY INSTRUMENTS playing ONE SONG, pointing others to the graciousness of our Great God.
