Whenever the topic of reading the Bible comes up some common responses are "It's to hard to understand", "it's boring", "it has to many contradictions." And there are parts of the Bible that are hard, boring, or appear irrelevant to life today. But since the Bible is God's ultimate social media message to us, join us as we look at ways to read the Bible that encourage, inspire, challenge, and teach us. God's text messages are worth the reading, let's explore them together.

The Language of Grace

Harvard Medical School Research suggests that “being grateful is actually good for people. Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what we receive. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives and usually recognize that the source of that goodness lies outside themselves”. Scripture suggests that giving thanks is an appropriate response to God’s goodness extended towards us and should be such a normal response to our living in God’s grace that thankfulness becomes a characteristic of who we are. Join us as we look at the practice of thanksgiving and work to intentionally become a people speaking a language of grace

The Practice of Generosity

One way to guarantee making people uncomfortable in church is to talk about money. Yet money is a part of our everyday lives. Scripture encourages us in how we use money as a way of becoming the kind of people God would have us become. And, the use of our money can be an expression of the things God has already done for us. Join us as we consider the practice of generosity as a regular part of our spiritual lives.

Avoidance Is Not A Strategy

Many years ago one of my children spilled his red soft drink all over the inside of a brand new car. And he did it after I asked all the kids to promise that there would be no playing with their drink in the car. I promised him appropriate punishment and penalties. By the time we got home I forgot about the promised punishment, but he didn’t. He came to me and asked for the punishment because, in his words, he deserved it and had intentionally violated his father’s word. He needed the forgiveness and the release that came after confession. Scripture tells us that all Christians have the same relationship and same need with God the Father. Confession is a spiritual life practice that helps us keep a healthy fellowship with our God and each other. Come join us on Sunday and find out why “Avoidance is Not A Strategy”.
