The Comeback - Week Three

"The Comeback.” Without a doubt, it’s everyone’s favorite plot line. From great movies to great sporting events to great moments in history, the triumph of the underdog against overwhelming odds resonates with everybody. They are stories we not only want to hear, they are stories we need to believe. And we’ve never needed a Comeback Story more than now. 2020 was like a ceaseless flurry of punches from a tireless foe. But now, just as the weather is warming and Covid cases are declining, just as the days are lengthening and new life is sprouting all around: It’s Easter! The greatest of all Comeback Stories bursts into view. Jesus has absorbed every blow on our behalf and gives us the victory. That is the very definition of “the gospel.” It is “good news” from a foreign country that, despite every expectation of total destruction, victory has completely displaced defeat. And by faith, that Comeback Story, is our story.
