Jesus had a reputation for being friends with sinners. He was known for being close with some of the least spiritual people in town.
In fact, one of the attacks against Jesus was that he MUST not be God because of the people he was hanging out with. If he knew who his friends really were, he would never be associated with them.
And yet, Jesus was incredibly effective at attracting lost people and drawing them back to God. How did he do that?
This passage, we’re going to explore a theme that might be surprising to hear in church: God loves a good party. In fact, a celebratory spirit is deeply connected with the Gospel and reaching lost people and is modeled for us in the life of Jesus.
This idea is also found in Jesus' life verse from Isaiah 61, a bedrock chapter for our church's disciple-making strategy.
