1. Her Sorrow (1:1-8)
Hannah, the wife of Elkanah, is harassed by Elkanah's second wife for being barren. We are told that the Lord had closed Hannah's womb. She was being prepared for an act of divine deliverance that would produce the next great leader for Israel.

2. Her Supplication (1:9-20)
On a trip to the temple, Hannah prays silently for a son. Eli, the priest, thinks she is drunk, but when she explains, he affirms her. Upon returning home, Hannah conceives and bears a son, Samuel.

3. Her Surrender (1:21-28)
Hannah takes Samuel to the temple and dedicates him to the Lord. Perhaps the most prominent catchphrase in the story of Samuel is "before the Lord" (1:22). Samuel was to live "before the Lord" always, and this he actually did.

4. Parenting with Grace
Hannah, a woman of grace, parented with grace. What lessons have we learned from Hannah that can be used to train up children in the service of the Lord?

Every child needs to know that they are a gift from God.
Every child needs someone praying for them.
Every child needs biblical instruction.
Every child needs to know that they are loved.
Every child needs to be released for God's purpose.
