The Coming of Jesus

Advent Series

Hope

**Focus this week:** To learn how the coming of Jesus at Christmas gives hope to all people. Perhaps the most important thing we can remember as we prepare for Christmas is that Jesus gives hope to anyone and everyone who is feeling hopeless. **Memory Verse:** “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” **Isaiah 9:6**

Love

**Focus this week:** To learn how God’s love for us was never clearer than when he sent Jesus at Christmas. His love was powerfully demonstrated to us and our response must be to love others in the same way that he loved us. **Memory Verse:** “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” - *Isaiah 9:6*

Joy

**Focus this week:** To learn how joy was the dominant emotion on that first Christmas. Then, to gear our hearts and minds up to experience and share the same kind of joy as Christmas day draws closer. **Memory Verse:** “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” - *Isaiah 9:6*

Peace

**Focus this week:** To learn about the critical connection between Jesus in the manger and Jesus on the cross. The key to peace in our lives is to understand that God sent Jesus to die so that we could know him. **Memory Verse:** “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” - *Isaiah 9:6*

New Year

**Focus this week:** To understand that God desires for Christians to live in ways that please Him. **Memory Verse:** Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
