With All Your Heart

Pastor John Brunette

October 4, 2020

Today Pastor John is kicking off a new four-week message series titled Worship With All. We are all worshipers, worshiping something or someone. How do we worship and love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Is this even possible? Let's begin with a focus on the condition of our hearts and what it means to worship, love, and trust in God above ALL and with ALL our hearts.

OUTLINE:

With All Your Heart

Mark 12:28-34

Why We Worship

For by Him (Jesus) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16)

With All Our Hearts

Broken. . .

The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. (Genesis 6:5)

And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him to His heart. (Genesis 6:6)

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it? (Jeremiah 17:9)

Do you not see that whatever goes into a person form outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach. . .What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person. (Mark 7:18-23)

New. . .

I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. (Ezekiel 36:25‑27)

Receive, Release, Renew...

God, who knows the heart, showed that He accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for He purified their hearts by faith. (Acts 15:8-9)

Mark 12:28-34

The Greatest Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[b] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[c] There is no commandment greater than these.” 32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but Him. 33 To love Him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” 34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, He said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
