Terry Olson Memorial

Terry Olson, 72, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Packer Fan Extraordinaire, passed away peacefully at his home in Naperville, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family on February 22, 2024. Terry was raised in Clintonville, Wisconsin, and from a young age, he exhibited a passion for playing sports that would define him throughout his years. He passed this love of sports on to his children and grandchildren. Terry instilled in them not only the skills of the game but also the values of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship. In 1984, Terry married the love of his life, Gayle, and together they embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Kyle (Michelle) Olson, Heidi (Scott) Weber, and Heather (Ross) Combs. Terry was not only a dedicated husband and father but also a pillar of strength and support for his family. Terry adored his nine grandchildren: Andrew (Stephanie) Olson, Caroline Olson, Sam Olson, Phillip Olson, Landon Combs, Addison Weber, Tyler Weber, Keegan Combs, and Emerson Combs. He took immense joy in watching them grow and was always there to offer guidance, wisdom, and unconditional love. Terry is survived by his beloved wife, his children, grandchildren, and his siblings: Glenn (Carol) Olson, Dale (Ronda) Olson, and Paula (Dean) Styczynski and countless nieces and nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Marjorie Olson and nephew Josh Kriewaldt. For 35 years, Terry served as an educator, dedicating the majority of his career to Washington Junior High in Naperville. Not only was he a teacher, but also a mentor, coach, and role model to countless students, inspiring them to realize their full potential both in and out of the classroom. Following his retirement the sixth grade team honored him by creating an annual Outstanding Math Student award in his name. A true enthusiast of life, Terry had a wide range of passions and interests. He was renowned as the number one Packer fan, his loyalty to the team unwavering through thick and thin. An avid golfer, Terry found joy on the greens, and he cherished the camaraderie shared with his fellow golfers. In addition to sports, Terry had a deep love for reading and could often be found engrossed in a good book. He had a green thumb and took great pride in his garden, inviting others to gather and enjoy its beauty together. Terry also had a fondness for wine, travel, and even the simple pleasure of mowing the lawn, finding contentment in the everyday moments of life. A man of strong faith, Terry dedicated his life to living and sharing his faith in God. His belief in the power of prayer, love and compassion encouraged others to the glory of God's love which was evident in everything he did, from his interactions with family and friends to his involvement in his church and community. Terry's warmth, kindness, and infectious laughter touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though Terry may no longer walk among us, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy of love, family, and devotion to God will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
