FAITH Worship (10/20/24): "Outpost Personnel" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
October 20, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 5:20–21
What does it mean to be an ambassador? It's a job description and a personal descriptor. It is who we are and it is what we do. Our job is to plead reconciliation to the world, on their turf, but on our footing. To minister effectively we must ensure our correct passport is in hand.
FAITH Worship (10/13/24): "From Now On" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
October 13, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 5:16–19
Many of us have removed our skepticism of God in our relationship with Jesus. But for humanity around us, we are still very much skeptics. We must not view people around us from a worldly perspective. Jesus gives us new lenses to see the world, and then He gives us a job: Go be reconcilers. Go and heal relationships. That is a tall order, but a divine one nonetheless.
FAITH Worship (10/6/24): "Urgent Understanding" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
October 6, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 5:11–15
Paul may look crazy, but he is focused. He seeks only to proclaim the way of Jesus by living the way of Jesus. Others may use proclaiming Jesus for their benefit, but fear of the Lord kept Paul from exploiting it for his benefit. The Gospel is too important. No one else is coming for mankind, and no one else will judge mankind.
FAITH Worship (9/29/24): "Absent or Present" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
September 29, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 5:1–10
The body. The soul. The body with soul or soul with a body. Present with the Lord. Away from the Lord. Paul promotes the transient nature of this life. The permanent nature of the next life. And, gives us the prescribed aim of both: Please the Lord.
FAITH Worship (9/22/24): "Don't Lose Heart" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
September 22, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 4:12–18
The thing in life that everybody wants and far too many find the wrong answer to is "a reason to live". Paul teaches that everything in this life, especially the afflictions and suffering, is doing something wonderful. It is producing. How, we don't fully know, but we will have an eternity to enjoy whatever it is. That is what gets us through our today: tomorrow.
FAITH Worship (9/15/24): "Jars of Clay" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
September 15, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 4:7–11
Our lives are ordinary and fragile. That's not how it was supposed to be from the beginning. However, God created mankind to be spectacular, strong, and frankly, immortal. But, before He restores us in the resurrection, He gives us a down payment of the Spirit to shine from our lives. This makes the cracks, seams, and chips in our mortality beautiful for that is where He shines from us. Where we are weak, He is strong.
FAITH Worship (9/8/24): "An Open Display of Truth" (Series: Don't Give Up the Ship)
September 8, 2024 • Pastor Tim Byer • 2 Corinthians 4:1–6
God woke us up this morning to put us on display. Our ministry is to live. Not in some self-serving way, but to live in an others-serving way so that people might see the light and hope that is within us. This is our ministry ... to live.
