The New Covenant of God’s Grace
Romans 8:1-4 (NIV)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
God’s Covenant of Grace has judged you.
1. NOT GUILTY!
Romans 8:1 (NIV)
“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
Romans 8:23-25 (NIV)
“all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.”
2. Righteous
2 Corinthians 5:21 (ESV)
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Philippians 3:9 (NIV)
“[I am] found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. “
1 John 2:1-2 (NIV)
“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”
3. Free from the slavery to sin
Romans 8:2 (NIV)
“because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”
Romans 6:23
“the wages of sin is death.”
