Advent // Peace

Luke 2:14 (NLV)

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, and goodwill toward men!”

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The invitation of Christmas

1. Come to Jesus just as you are.

2. Receive what Jesus offers.

Matthew 11:29a (NIV)

“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me”

John 14:27 (NIV)

Jesus said…

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Jeremiah 6:16 (NIV)

God says to them…

“Stand at the crossroads and look;

ask for the ancient paths,

ask where the good way is, and walk in it,

and you will find rest for your souls.

But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”

1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Isaiah 9:2,6 (NIV)

“The people walking in darkness [those who do not have peace] have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

[Hope and peace has come] “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
