God rescued the Israelites from bondage in Egypt so they could be a light to the world. However, they needed a new mindset since they had been Egyptians for too long.
When we are controlled by envy or greed, we have feelings of anger/resentment, we will try to tear others down to make ourselves feel better, and we will compromise our integrity to gain that which our cravings desire.
