Paul’s 2nd message to Timothy

August 20, 2023 • James Paton • 2 Timothy 1:7, 2 Timothy 2:1–4, 2 Timothy 3:14–17

Paul's 1st message to Timothy

August 13, 2023 • Kyle Trigg • 1 Timothy 1:5, 1 Timothy 3:14–16, 1 Timothy 6:11–12

Paul’s 2nd Message to Thessalonians

August 6, 2023 • James Paton • 2 Thessalonians 2:1–4, 2 Thessalonians 3:1–5, 2 Thessalonians 3:16

If we’re doing everything right, why is life still hard? This is what the Thessalonian church probably asked themselves and one we often ask ourselves today. The Thessalonians faced affliction, even as they faithfully followed the way of Jesus, so Paul sends a reminder to stand firm until Jesus’ return when He comes back as King.

Paul’s 1st Message to Thessalonians

July 30, 2023 • James Paton • 1 Thessalonians 3:12–13, 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18

You know that feeling when you achieve a new personal best score in your favorite sport or video game, ace a school exam or work project, then think, "I bet I can top that!"? That's the never-quit attitude of the Thessalonians! Despite facing some real tough challenges, they held onto their faith. Paul encourages them to "excel still more". Will we stand firm and “level up” in Christ, no matter what we face?

Paul's message to Colossians

July 23, 2023 • Chet Kennedy • Colossians 2:8–10, Colossians 3:1–3, Colossians 1:15–20

Remember the feeling of winning a game, finishing a puzzle, or earning a gold star at school? That feeling of excitement, accomplishment, and joy is like the church at Colossae. They were growing, learning, and spreading kindness all around them. But Paul, like a wise coach, had an important reminder for them: always remember who’s on your team and Who is guiding your journey.

Paul's message to Philippians

July 16, 2023 • James Paton • Philippians 1:21, Philippians 3:8–11, Philippians 4:4–13

Ever been in a situation so dire that you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel? In times like this, joy might feel like a distant memory. But what if we could experience joy, no matter what? That’s what Paul had to say to the church at Philippi, even from a dimly lit prison cell. Let’s uncover what “rejoicing” really means in the face of adversity. Will we respond to Paul’s example?

July 9, 2023 • Rosalind Coben, James Paton • Ephesians 1:3, Ephesians 5:17–18, Ephesians 2:8–10, Ephesians 4:1–3, Ephesians 4:11–13

How does it feel when you do something kind, just because it feels right? That's the very spirit of Paul's message to the Ephesians. First, Paul reminds us how we’re saved. Then, like a friendly guide, he shows us how to live a life that's worthy of our calling. Let’s explore the roles we each have in our church community and how to stay strong when spiritual battles come.

Paul's message to Galatians

July 2, 2023 • James Paton • Galatians 2:20–21, Galatians 5:1

What do you do when friends or family begin to drift away from what you thought were shared values and beliefs? Paul's not afraid to set things right. He wants to keep the main thing in focus in Galatia when he sends a message to his friends who are being misled. So what’s “the main thing"? What should be in focus?

June 25, 2023 • Grant Sylvester • 2 Corinthians 4:5–6, 2 Corinthians 4:16–18, 2 Corinthians 5:17–19, 2 Corinthians 13:5

How does it feel when you're ignored after calling someone out? It's easy to get defensive. Paul's first message to Corinthians didn't go over well, so he's at it again. This time, it's personal! What can we learn from 2 Corinthians?

There’s a text notification on your phone so you glance at it, but it doesn't feel urgent, so it's forgotten (or ignored). Ever read a text but forget (or choose not to) respond? Like a parent checking in on their kids who are not with them, Paul tried to keep new churches grounded in truth through long-distance letters that we now have as books in the New Testament. Did the recipients respond? Have we? Let’s find out this summer, starting with Paul’s words to the Romans.
