In this beautiful passage, we see Jesus expressing his affection for his follows. He "earnestly desired" to have the last supper with them, and it was finally time. During the meal, Jesus showed how the passover that happened during Israel's time in Egypt was actually a precursor to his death and resurrection on behalf of his people--to save them from experiencing the death they deserve. Last, Jesus promises that he and his followers will have another communion meal together when his kingdom comes in fullness.

Jesus predicts the pending destruction of Jerusalem accurately to his disciples. In doing this, He gives the Church some timeless principles about following Him. See Jesus, expect persecution, hope in His promises, be all in.

Proper order of worship is one of the major themes of Scripture. In this passage, Jesus addresses this them by contrasting the sacrifice of a poor widow to that of the rich. To our amazement, Jesus commends the poor widow because she gave to the Lord that which was most meaningful to her. The Lord asks for all of us. He desires to be in first position of our affections, time, energy and money. Listen as Forrest Brown unpacks the text for us.
