Peace

the Promise of Christmas

Peace Comes When Jesus Is King

December 20, 2015 • Brian Watts

About this series: We live in a world of chaos, not peace. Think about your life: where is the incompleteness; where is the discord and disharmony; where are the longings in you that haven’t been met; what keeps you restless and concerned? It was once said, “if you have everything the world can give – pleasures, possessions, powers – but lack peace, you can never be happy.” And yet peace is a prominent part of the Christmas Story. Jesus is called “the Prince of Peace”, the angels announce “peace” to the world at Jesus’ birth, the characters in the Christmas narrative are constantly told, “do not be afraid”. The message of Christmas is that “peace has come”, so during this series we want to consider the way that the news of Jesus’ birth brings peace.
