In this section of Mark's Gospel, we encounter people who are deeply impacted by the imperfections of this world (storms, darkness, sickness and death). Mark is showing us that Jesus has power to calm the storm, to defeat the most powerful forces of darkness, to heal the sick and even raise the dead. He is God and he has come to set the world right.
