Enough Week 2: Nonanxious Urgency
October 15, 2023
Anxiety is real. So many of us deal with worries and fear connected to the uncertainty of the future and regrets from the past. Anxiety has a powerful way of both paralyzing us and driving us to make poor choices. When anxiety reigns, it is a tyrant, and we’ve all felt the effect of its dictatorial rule. Is there a balance between healthy anxiety that fuels us to be productive and unhealthy anxiety that controls our lives? That’s where nonaxious urgency comes in; that we can address the needs we have without being controlled by panic and fear. And that can be found in our faith. Jesus helps us to live authentically and truly to who God calls us to be. Jesus’ love offers us freedom and rest from anxiety. When our quest for security and certainty leaves us wanting and afraid, Jesus teaches us that the truest security to be found is in knowing God. Easier said than done, right? Let’s learn how together.
