Bitter or Better

March 19, 2023 • Neil Perry

Neil walks us through James’ teaching on the importance of rejoicing in our tribulations. James expounds that tribulation produces a fruit of perseverance in our lives. This perseverance builds our character and gives us a hope that cannot disappoint. The hope we have creates an anticipation and God delights in us desiring Him in our waiting.

Where Does Your Wisdom Come From?

March 26, 2023 • JR Blanton • James 3

JR takes us to the third chapter of James to shed light on the importance of wisdom that comes from the Lord. The wisdom that the Lord offers is covered in His desire for peace, gentleness, and willingness to involve us in His will. In the ways that the Lord in his wisdom does good to us, we should also do unto others because this is how we reflect Him to the world.

There are Two Roads

April 2, 2023 • Jeremy Jenkins • James 4

In this teaching, Jeremy invokes the passion of James to shed light on the self-serving nature of many believers today. James proclaims that no one has a friendship with the world and lacks strife between them and God. If we are going to follow after God we have to be all in and count our sinful nature as a revolving opportunity towards glorifying the Lord. We in every moment need to wage the effect that our actions have in God’s will.

Mature Christians Eat Meat

April 16, 2023 • Neil Perry • James

This week Neil teaches us through the precepts of James that help us discern our spiritual maturity. We learn that there are clear signs of a Christian who has been dedicated to becoming who and what God intends them to be. Maturity ultimately means that we don’t just know the truth but are willing, able, and proficient in leading others in this truth.

Taming the Tongue

April 23, 2023 • Josh Cribb • James 3

This week we are led through James’ teaching on the power of the tongue by Josh. We are taught the truth of the power of the tongue to harm ourselves and others but it’s more than that. We find also in the scripture that the tongue is the compass by which we live. Sometimes we unknowingly influence the direction of the life that surrounds us by having an unbridled tongue. However, when we bridle our tongue using God’s truth as the bit, we ensure that our words produce life and not destruction or misdirection.

Faith that is Genuine

April 30, 2023 • JR Blanton • James 2

JR rounds out our series studying the book of James in chapter 2. James speaks to the necessity of faith in the verb form. We as Christians must have a faith that meets the world’s brokenness and turns it for good. It is not enough to verbalize our belief but it is necessary to be active in witnessing. Jesus must be our daily guide and through our faith those around us may come to know who He is and all that He has done.
