Check Up From The Neck Up
August 23, 2020
Mental health is real. For far too long Christians and Black communities have shied away from talking about mental health. Today, Pastor Lee encourages us to Check Up from the Neck Up. ---- 1 Kings 19:1-4 (NLT) When Ahab got home, he told Jezebel everything Elijah had done, including the way he had killed all the prophets of Baal. So Jezebel sent this message to Elijah: “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them”. Elijah was afraid and fled for his life. He went to Beersheba, a town in Judah, and he left his servant there. Then he went on alone into the wilderness, traveling all day. He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life, for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.”

What kind of financial house are you building? Today, Pastor Lee gives us practical steps to Prosper in a Pandemic. Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV)

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. James 1:13-15 (NIV) There are three things we need to know about the kind of Temptation that can lead to Entanglement. Tune in to find out what they are!

Isaiah 6:1-8 Suffering is Not the End. Rather, it is the Beginning of a New Assignment. The scene of Isaiah 6 is set with trauma. King Uzziah had been king for 52 years. Isaiah new him. He was grieving. Israel was grieving. Do not mistake what you experiencing as a lack of an opportunity. Do not mistake hardship as a sign of God abandoning His people. Do not mistake suffering as a sign that you are not in His favor.
