Divine Guidance | Episode 8 | Multiple Witnesses & Jesus

Grace & Truth

September 23, 2024 • Duane Sheriff • John 5:31–39, John 4:1, 1 Corinthians 14:29–33, 1 Corinthians 2:15

In the eighth episode of "Divine Guidance," Duane Sheriff teaches about the vital principle of Multiple Witnesses and Jesus to understand God's guidance. God guides us into all truth, especially in our personal lives and spiritual journey. God wants to confirm His word through multiple witnesses. 2 Corinthians 13:1 states, "Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses."

Even Jesus did not claim His identity based on His testimony alone. In John 5:31, Jesus said, "If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true," highlighting the need for additional witnesses. Jesus then pointed to John the Baptist, His miraculous works, and the Father Himself as witnesses to His divine nature. Jesus' baptism in Matthew 3:16-17 supports this when God's voice from heaven declared Jesus as His beloved Son.

God speaks to us through dreams, visions, and inner promptings. To ensure that we truly hear from God, rely on 1 John 4:1 to "test the spirits to see whether they are from God." This process of seeking confirmation through multiple witnesses is crucial, especially when making high-stakes decisions. This teaching teaches us that God desires to confirm His guidance in our lives through various means. By understanding and applying the principle of Multiple Witnesses, we can better discern God's voice and direction in our lives.
