Paul says in 2 Corinthians 11:2, “For I am zealous for you with a godly eagerness and a divine jealousy, for I have betrothed you to one Husband, to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” (Amplified.) Our (the church) relationship with God should be as a wife to her husband. In Ephesians 5:22-33 when Paul speaks of the role of the husband and wife, he is also speaking of Christ and the church. Verse 32 says “This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”
