Our Quest For Intimacy | Part 4

Honesty

June 8, 2011 • Duane Sheriff

We each have an innate need for intimacy. Unfortunately, in our current societal standards, “anything goes.” That need is God-given and it comes with instructions. Genesis 2:15-25 lays out God’s plan for man. “And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him… she shall be called Woman… therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” While Adam and Eve are our pattern for intimacy in marriage, intimacy is more than the marriage bed. We need relationship with 1) God, 2) Parents and 3) Spouse to meet our basic intimacy needs.
