ASL I will be held in Detroit Hope Center's fellowship hall on Tuesdays. Doors open at 5:15pm and class will promptly begin at 5:30pm, ending at 6:30pm. This is a 15 week course. The dates are as follows:

August 6 - Lesson 1 Deaf Culture and Hand Shapes with Vocabulary and Alphabet
August 13 - Lesson 2 Facial Expression, Personal Information, Numbers 1-10
August 20 - Lesson 3 Numbers 10-20. Classifiers and Tenses
August 27 - Lesson 4 Church Signs, Numbers 31-99 and Closed 5 hand signs
September 3 - Lesson 5 More Church Signs, Closed fist and c shape signs, Numbers 100-999 September 10 - Lesson 6 Time, Numbers 1,000-999,999, Subject/Verb/Object topicalizing
September 17 - Lesson 7 Dominant Hand, Body Shifting, Asking Questions
September 24 - Lesson 8 Deaf History, Classifier H, Forming Sentences
October 1 - Lesson 9 Code Switching, Various Forms of Sign Language
October 8 - Lesson 10 Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers, Lexicalized Fingerspelling
October 15 - Lesson 11 Communications for the Deaf, Multiple Meanings for same sign
October 22 - Lesson 12 Calendar, Time, Inflection Incorporation
October 29 - Lesson 13 Becoming an interpreter, various school options for Deaf
November 5 - Lesson 14 Winter and Weather Signs, Q&A session
November 12 - Lesson 15 Agents (people) and Wrap-Up Review
November 19 - Certificate Banquette
This course is free to the community. However, if you would like to make a small donation toward materials and fellowships, you are welcome to do so through this registration. Each participant should purchase a 1” 3-ring binder in order to put lessons and notes in.
