I got involved with the hearing church. The church leaders and I would email each other, and I would set up the schedule for the interpreters. If you or any other interpreters get an urging to help out the deaf by taking on leadership roles, I advise you not to do so. If an interpreter were to take on the leader role and interact with the church leaders, then the church leaders would only see the interpreter in question and not see the deaf people. Instead, I suggest you take a deaf person and put him in a position to communicate with the church leaders, so the church leaders can see the deaf person in question and, by extension, the rest of the deaf people. That would help improve the connection between the two groups.
