New Year Essentials (2019)
Storing Up God's Word
Psalm 119:11 • January 13, 2019 • Pastor Adam Sinnett
This morning we are beginning a set of annual sermons we refer to as our new year essentials. These sermons address subjects and important themes that we must repeatedly return to for the glory of God and the transformation of our inner and outer lives. These are not, of course, the same sermons. Rather, they are different sermons, taking different angles, on issues we need to come back to again and again. We begin our year, and our series, by considering the nature of the Bible and the irreplaceable value of storing it up in our hearts.
A Gospel-Forged People in a Divided Age
Romans 12:9-21 • January 20, 2019 • Pastor Adam Sinnett
This morning we are continuing our new year essentials sermon series. This series addresses important themes that we must repeatedly return to for the glory of God, the good of others, and our ongoing transformation. Today we are going to consider what it means to be a gospel-forged people in a politically divided age. The big question before us is simple, yet profound: as Jesus’ people, how do we not mirror the divisions in the world, but heal them?
Rebooting Your Prayer Life
Philippians 1:9-11 • January 27, 2019 • Pastor Adam Sinnett
This morning we continue our new year essentials sermon series. This four-week series addresses important themes we must repeatedly return to for the glory of God, the good of others, and our ongoing transformation. Today we will consider how to reboot our prayer life at the start of a new year. We know prayer is important, but there is a lot that wars against us to keep us from praying. So, how do we move forward? That’s what today is all about.
The Wonder of Jesus' Local Church
Ephesians 3:10 • February 3, 2019 • Pastor Adam Sinnett
Today we are considering the role of the local church in God's unfolding story. What is the point of the local church? Is there a point? Wrestling with these questions is, if you will, essential. The local church is God’s Plan A for the advancement of his purposes in the world and in our lives. If we want to participate in the fullness of his purposes, we must embrace his chosen vehicle for advancing them.
