Acts 17: 2-4

January 21, 2024 • Garrett Marshall • 1 Peter 3:15–16

What does it mean to “persuade” someone? There is a compelling number of biblical authors who suggest that our persuasive impact comes, not from a well-prepared argument, but from a deeply human and humble engagement with others and the world.

“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect . . . (1 Peter 3:15-16)

Persuasion happens through a life marked by the beauty of a virtuous, truthful, and gracious character. It also occurs when we can have conversations that honor others opinions, while not diminishing our own. As Christians it is well worth our time to explore what it means to “persuade.”
