The Cesar Chavez Foundation is providing $300,000 in scholarship awards to Latino students who live in Arizona and California. Note: As indicated on their website, this $5,000 scholarship opportunity is open to Latino students “regardless of national origin or immigration status”. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on their academic excellence, leadership in extracurricular activities, commitment to volunteer service in the community and financial need. Here are the eligibility requirements: Applicant must be an incoming or continuing full-time undergraduate student at any education institution for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Applicant must be of Latino descent. Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be attending a college in Arizona or California. The scholarship is available in Arizona and California. Scholarship is available to U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, Undocumented Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA).

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship For New Americans • Awards Available: 30
Scholarship Description The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans are for up to two years graduate study in the professions and academic disciplines at any institution of higher learning in the United States. The prestigious Fellowships are funded by a trust established by Paul and Daisy Soros. In order to apply, you must be a New American who is 30 or younger as of the application deadline; must be a college senior or early in the graduate programs. Fellows are selected on the basis of merit. Each Fellow attends two-weekend conferences. Two essays are required, along with the application. Both prompts can be found on the application. Each Fellowship supports one to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States. Each award is for up to $25,000 in stipend support, as well as 50 percent of required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 per year, for one to two years. DACA SCHOLARS Founder Deyvid Morales traveled to Mexico CIty to spend time and work with Israel Concha from New Comienzos a nonprofit organization that helps dreamers that are deported or return voluntarily to Mexico. This area with the beautiful building (Monumento a la Revolucion) has become the new spot where binational and bilingual young adults form their own community known as #LitteLA since it has restaurants, barbershops, beauty salons and more start ups by dreamers in Mexico.
