Phil 3:13-14 “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
God Has Called us Forward in 24.
1. Sing the Praises.
Psalm 77:11-12 “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. 12 I will ponder all your work and meditate on your mighty deeds.”
-Romans 1:21 “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
2. Bury the Past.
Isa 43:18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”
3. Make the Plans.
-Isaiah 32:8 “The noble make noble plans, and by noble deeds they stand.”
4. Roll with the Punches.
-2 Tim 4:5 “Keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, and discharge all the duties of your ministry.
“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs . . . Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, and—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!” - Rudyard Kipling
5. Walk in His Path.
-John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
“There is not one square inch of the entire creation about which Jesus Christ does not cry out, “This is Mine! This belongs to Me.'” -Abraham Kuyper – Prime Minister of The Netherlands, 1911.
So we ask:
1. What were the praises and lessons for 2023?
2. Have I really buried the past – can I do so today?
3. In planning – is there an area where I need to stop making excuses and be obedient?
4. What can I plan to implement to make 2024 better – being ready to roll with the punches?
5. Will I step across the line today for Jesus Christ? – To be baptized, to Abide?
