A Mess Worth Making

April 21, 2024 • Courtney Harkness • Colossians 3:12–14

The resurrection of Jesus launched a new era for all of humanity. Our lives and relationships no longer have to be marked by our brokenness, because now, they can be characterized by the grace of God. Christ’s triumph over death delivers victory to us in all the ways necessary for human flourishing.

But this doesn’t mean we are without problems, challenges, or difficulty.

It means that in Christ, we are without excuse.

The Church is meant to be a shining example of God’s intention for humanity. There is a way to live together and a way to love each other - in spite of our fallen world. The Church of Jesus Christ should stand as the primary demonstration of that possibility, and shine hope to the world as one new people - the Fellowship of the Broken.

Love Beyond the Limit

In a unique moment that revolves around “an ending” and “a new beginning” concerning His ministry, Jesus gives us an incredible example of how to love beyond your limit.

Worthy of the Calling

May 12, 2024 • Courtney Harkness • Ephesians 4:1–2

God has clear expectations for how we should relate to each other within His family. The New Testament charges believers with the responsibility of aggressively pursuing unity - using a singular strategy of love. The framework of “one anothers” is meant to create a unique atmosphere within the body of Christ, leaving the necessary margin in our relationships for all of our brokenness. And while this responsibility falls on the shoulders of every believer, nobody in the family seems to be a better example of it than those we call, “Mother.”

The Blessing of Unity

May 5, 2024 • Courtney Harkness • Psalm 133

Gospel community is important. But not just for us. It’s also very special to God. Scripture promises that our enduring fellowship will invite the one thing that can make the difference in our broken lives - the very presence of God. Therefore, love is important to the body of believers as a pathway to the most important destination of all - UNITY. It is there - in that place - that the Lord has determined to bestow His blessing.
