Exodus Week Fifteen
May 18, 2022 • Kelly Collins • Exodus 18
In our final week of the semester we come to Chapter 18 where God uses Jethro to recount what the Lord has done and provide counsel moving forward. Through Jethro and Moses’ relationship we learn a lesson here in how to give and humbly receive correction.
Exodus Week Fourteen
May 4, 2022 • Janna Pinter • Exodus 17:1–7, Jude 14–16, Exodus 17:5–6, John 7:37–39, Exodus 17:8–16
We will continue our journey with the Israelites in the wilderness in route to the Promised Land. Last week they grumbled against Moses over their physical hunger. This week they quarrel with Moses and test the LORD over their physical thirst. Once again the LORD meets their immediate need. However, as with the previous chapter, what is exposed is their doubt in the goodness of God. We, just like the Israelites, can lose sight of His goodness when we take our eyes off of Him and fix them on our circumstances. We will also see the importance of depending on His strength, the necessity of community, and the posture of keeping our hands up during the battles of life.
Exodus Week Thirteen
April 27, 2022 • Rachel Hudson • Exodus 16:9–36
The Israelites are spending their first days in the wilderness after their exit from Egypt and are learning what it means to depend on the Lord for their daily bread. Just as the Israelites learned to rely on God for provision, we must also learn to rely on the Bread of life and Living Water, Jesus Christ.
Exodus Week Eleven
April 6, 2022 • Rachel Bailey • Exodus 14:13–18
At the Red Sea, God reveals a path of deliverance for the children of Israel that had been hidden beneath the waters since creation. Despite their rebellion, God saved the people for His Name's sake, that He might make known His mighty power.
Exodus Week Ten
March 23, 2022 • Kelly Collins • Exodus 13, Exodus 14
We take time to examine the significance of the Israelites carrying out Jospeh’s bones and we see God lead His people to a vulnerable and confusing position as He sets the stage for one last demonstration for Egypt, and Israel, that He is the Lord!
Exodus Week Eight
March 2, 2022 • Kelly Collins • Exodus 11, Exodus 12
As we unpack the final plague together we will also take an in-depth look at the instructions for the Passover and exalt Christ that we are now covered by His blood and our lives, hidden inside Him, are protected from the wrath of God.
Exodus Week Six
February 16, 2022 • Rachel Bailey • Exodus 7:1–5, Exodus 6:9, Exodus 6:28–30
Throughout the book of Exodus, God calls Moses to walk in persistent obedience without regard for the circumstances surrounding him. God continues to reaffirm His calling and plan for Moses, teaching him to have patient endurance in the Lord.
Exodus Week Four
February 2, 2022 • Janna Pinter • Exodus 4
As we continue to listen in on the conversation between the LORD and Moses, we see a relationship developing. We will see later in Exodus 33 that “the LORD speaks to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend”. However, in this chapter we read that Moses continues to object to the LORD’s plan to use him until “The anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses”. Moses, much like we tend to do, was looking at his own ability and remembering a past failure. But the LORD, rather than feeding the insecurities, continues to remind Moses that HE WILL BE WITH HIM.
Exodus Week Two
January 19, 2022 • Kelly Collins • Exodus 1:9–10
The book of Exodus doesn’t start with Moses, before he is even seen we have the portraits of brave women who are in place by God’s sovereignty. They use the means given to them to express their allegiance, loyalty and faith in the one true God.
Exodus Week One
January 12, 2022 • Kelly Collins • Exodus 1:1–7
The word “Exodus” means “going out” and what we will find in the book is a birth narrative not only of Moses but of the nation of Israel. We will see God working again and again as a strong Deliverer and a foretelling of Jesus, the better Moses, that would come!
