Flourishing in Cultural Diversity
These new communities may be within your circle of care (family, close friends, congregants) OR may be within a broader circle of concern – people that we haven’t connected with before. What would it look like to intentionally create a new community with an invitational culture --- one in which we connect with those around us who are pandemic affected, racially and economically fragmented, polarized around many issues, and cyber dependent.
What new community does God want you to create as you reenter and reengage? What is your?
Almost 60 years ago Rev. DR. Martin Luther King shared his vision --- the Beloved Community. He saw a community of love that would be one in which justice is done and there is authentic solidarity with others --- a beloved community in which ALL are embraced and NONE are marginalized (whether related to age, gender, race, ethnicity, class, ableness, or other differences).
In a beloved community, we would be living out Micah 6:8 in relation to what the Lord requires of us --- to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God.
