Who Needs Christmas

Matthew, the once tax-collector who became one of Jesus' disciples, recorded what the angel said to Joseph, "You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins". Do you know why many of us aren't moved when we hear God sent Jesus to save us from our sin? We reduce Christmas to forgiveness. The message of Christmas is bigger than that. If Jesus and Christmas are only about forgiveness, then we've missed the full message of Christmas. Jesus didn't come just to forgive sin; he came to deliver us from sin. There is a huge difference between forgiveness for sin and freedom from sin. If Jesus is your Savior, then sin is not your master!

Well, we're finally here! We can finally start listening to Christmas music without being judged (as if we cared, haters). The big sales have come (and gone) and Christmas (and all that goes with it) is coming whether you want it to or not. Christmas, to many, means hectic, chaotic, and crazy. Many are already exhausted and its barely December. There are times when we might just ask ourselves, "Who needs Christmas?" We may ask that question out of frustration from time to time, but it is a legitimate question. This Sunday we will give the first of three answers to who needs Christmas. This Sunday we will see that the world needed Christmas. The whole world would be blessed because the whole world needed blessing; it needed Christmas!
