Faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are all possible because of the earlier attributes of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, and goodness.

Each attribute of the Fruit of the Spirit is dependent on those that are listed before it. Everything good began with God’s love. The attributes of longsuffering (patience), kindness, and goodness are what we demonstrate to others because of what God has given to us.

If we claim to be Christians, then there must be some evidence of the Holy Spirit in our behavior. Love, joy, and peace are three attributes that should be visible to others with whom we come in contact. God will provide those traits for us if we ask Him.
