I AM - Knowing the Real Jesus

Part 8 - The Vine

John 15:1-8 • December 10, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

In this sermon, we will look at the last "I Am" statement in the book of John. In chapter 15, Jesus not only presents Himself as the one true vine, but also reveals there are basically two kinds of branches: those that are useful and can bear fruit and those that aren't. The difference between the two is one is abiding in Him and the other is not. The question everyone must answer is, "Are you an abiding branch or not?" The answer to this question makes all the difference in the world.

Part 7 - The Way, The Truth, & The Life

John 14:1-7 • December 3, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

**Due to technical difficulty, the last 10 minutes of audio are cut off. We apologize for the inconvenience.** The culture says the claim of Jesus as “the only way” is intolerant and narrow-minded. But logic demands that there can only be one God and one way to access Him. In this sermon, Pastor Jeff explores John 14:1-7 where Jesus claims to be the true revelation from the Father. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus, and He grants true life.

Part 6 - The Resurrection Life

John 11 • November 26, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

Death is a universal problem. George Bernard Shaw was right when he said, “The statistics on death are quite impressive—one out of one people die.” Looks like the odds are stacked against us. Looks like the “big shoe” IS going to drop. How do you live with death? One day Jesus was standing next to a fresh grave…and gave us a whole new way of looking at the problem! In this message, we will explore Jesus’ declaration that He is the resurrection and the life. Resurrection is not a story or a theology, but resurrection is the person Jesus Christ.

Part 5 - The Good Shepherd

John 10: 11-21 • November 19, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

In this sermon series, we’ll consider the true identity of Jesus according to Jesus’ own statements and claims. We’re doing this partly to learn about what Jesus has done and partly to learn about the kind of person Jesus was. But, we’re doing it mainly because of the teaching of Scripture that our lives are changed not by looking at ourselves but by fixing our eyes on Jesus (Heb. 12:2). And this week, we’ll see when we fix our eyes on Jesus, we see him saying in John 10:11-21, “I am the Good Shepherd.”

Part 4 - The Door

John 10: 1-10 • November 12, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

I am the door. Jesus claims to be the one and only opening to God. Through Jesus, the people of God will be brought into His Kingdom. This message considers the third of Jesus’ seven “I AM statements” found in the Gospel of John. This will be Part 4 in our ongoing series “I AM: Knowing the Real Jesus.”

Part 3 - The Light of the World

John 8:12-60 • November 5, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

You stub your toe in the dark. You lose your way in the dark. You can’t see what you are doing in the dark. It’s lonely to be left in the dark. It is unsettling to be told you are in the dark about a situation. Need a light? This message considers the second of Jesus’ seven I AM statements found in the gospel of John that Jesus is the Light of the World. This is the third sermon in the series entitled “I AM: Knowing the Real Jesus.”

Part 2 - The Bread of Life

John 6:22-70 • October 29, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

Throughout the book of John, Jesus compares something physical to something spiritual. By saying "I am the bread of life," Jesus lets the crowd know He can provide so much more than just physical bread. In part 2 of the series “I AM: Knowing the Real Jesus", Pastor Jeff will unpack John 6 and explain how Jesus is the satisfier and sustainer of life, and how we must turn toward Him in every situation.

Part 1 - Introduction

October 22, 2017 • Bro. Jeff Smart

Everyone seems to have their own take on who Jesus is. Some will say he was a good man, some will say he was a wonderful teacher, some will say he was just a prophet, and others will say he was a crazy man (including his own family). Even those who confess that he is the “Son of God who takes away the sin of the world” will often soften him or try to form him into their own image. But who does Jesus say that He is? Who is the REAL JESUS?
