The Greatest Commission

February 22, 2019 • The Pastors

We are told to go into all the world to make and baptize disciples of Jesus Christ. What if that commission puts others at risk? Recently, a Christian missionary died while attempting to proselytize to an unreached, remote tribe. A listener asked if the health risk posed by the missionary exposing the tribe to new diseases outweighed the Christian responsibility to share the gospel with them. A lively debate ensued, then The Pastors decided they needed to discuss it with you lovely folks. Enjoy!

No, Andy Stanley...you're wrong

February 15, 2019 • The Pastors

We're confused, Andy. Mr. Stanley thinks that it is unfortunate when Christian build their faith upon the Word of God alone (Sola Scriptura). Sola Scriptura promotes that scripture (The Holy Bible) is our only authority for the Christian. It is not merely a collection of books to be referenced or esteemed...it is the very Word of God. With it comes themes and actions that we, as humans, can not defend; and, act as if it is something in which we hold an objective view of its entire content. Rather than "unhitching" from those things, or trying to explain them away, we deal with them. We know that, as Christians, we are subject to the Word, knowing that it is something that speaks authoritatively to us. The Word of God is the sole basis of faith! Without it, there is nothing to build upon.
